Sciton MicroLaser Peels
MicroLaser Peels produce a fresher, smoother surface by painlessly vaporizing off the outer 20 to 50 microns of dull, dead skin. Because more of the skin can be removed with the Micro Laser Peel than with other noninvasive treatments, more improvement is achieved with:
- Patchy pigment
- Sun damage (freckles)
- Pore size
- Fine lines
MicroLaser Peels can be done on any part of the body and are an excellent choice for rejuvenation of the face, neck, and décolleté (chest) with minimal down time. Treatments are painless when a aesthetic cream is used. Most patients will experience 2 to 3 days of redness similar to a sunburn after each session with some peeling expected on days 2-3. Results will continue to improve afterwards for several months.
- What Is MicroLaser Peel?
A MicroLaser Peel removes a thin layer of damaged skin to improve texture and provide a more youthful appearance. It provides superior results because it can be administered with great precision of depth. The procedure is performed by Dr. Mark X. Lowney in the office and can be custom tailored to your specific skin conditions and desired outcome.
- How does MicroLaser Peel work?
The Microlaser Peel’s beam is scanned over a treatment area to remove a very thin layer of skin (epidermis). Removing the top layer eliminates some of the damaged cells that give skin a tired, aged look. As the skin heals, fresh cells grow and resurface the treated area. The result is healthier-looking skin, often with reduced wrinkles and improved color evenness.
- What areas of the body can be treated?
Most skin areas can be treated. Popular treatment areas are the face and neck, though some people also treat the chest and hands.
- How many treatments will I need?
Excellent results can be obtained in just one treatment. However, the number of treatments needed may vary from patient to patient. Dr. Lowney will personalize a plan based on your specific needs and may chose to combine Microlaser Peels with other aesthetic procedures like ProFractional, Skin Tyte, and Botox/Juvaderm. Typically, most patients achieve maximal results with 2 to 4 treatments spaced 6 to 8 weeks apart.
- How long does the procedure take?
Patients arrive to the office 60 to 90 minutes before the treatment where oral sedation is given as well as a topical numbing cream. The actual procedure takes about 30 minutes.
- Will it be uncomfortable?
One of the primary advantages of Microlaser Peel is that it causes little pain because it does not penetrate very deep into the skin. At its most shallow settings, most people can tolerate treatment with no anesthetic at all.
- What should I expect immediately after the treatment?
Immediately after the treatment you will experience some skin redness and a sensation resembling a sunburn as well as mild swelling.
- How long will it take to recover?
Depending on the depth of the procedure, most patients feel comfortable enough to return to work within 3 to 4 days. It is important to avoid sun exposure until you are completely healed.
- When should I expect results?
Because only the outer layer of skin is treated, most patients notice an obvious improvement in tone, texture and color evenness once the skin heals in 4 days. Continued improvement can be seen for up to 4 months.
- How much does it cost?
1st Treatment: $700
Subsequent Treatments: $600
Combined with ProFractional Laser Treatment: $1800
