Restylane and Juvaderm are naturally synthesized, FDA approved hyaluronic acid injectables utilized as to improve the appearance of wrinkles as well as to augment the lips. These cosmetic fillers contain hyaluronic acid in the form of a crystal clear gel. They are injected under the skin to lift a wrinkle or fold. They also can be injected into the vermilion border of the lips and into the center of the lips to create a more youthful and sensuous appearance.
Restylane and Juvaderm are most frequently used by themselves or in conjunction with Botox to treat deep smile lines, nasolabial folds, and smoker’s lines around the mouth, marionette lines at the corners of the mouth, and scars resulting from acne or trauma.
These fillers are safe, effective, and not derived from animal proteins (like collagen) so no skin testing is necessary. The results are immediate and last 6 to 8 months.
